Linn LP12, successor to (and much the same as) the Ariston RD11.
Another british staple. We think the sweet spot in price / performance is the Valhalla / Ittok vintage with a new ish bearing. Lingos are more stable but lose some of that lovely fat sound. When people start talking about 'timing' I feel out of my depth, but LP12s do it well, apparently.
I think some one will be servicing LP12s for decades if not centuries to come. Which is good because it is a pig to get them to bounce properly, and it affects the sound.
We have a couple: one with an Ittok and one with Lingo / Naim ARO.
