The same drivers as LS3/5as, and in many of the blind shootouts at the time, better sounding. They really are quite wonderful (though no low bass and the top treble is not quite silky). The radio 4 test they excel at. They really sound like voices, and music.
And they look cool. And we've got (low) stocks of some of the last proper ribbed foam in existence. Tops vary: wood, painted. My old bedroom system was a Lecson AC1, cylindrical AP1 and these 149s. Fed by an iPhone that was a really sweet setup...
